The Wednesday Club welcomes you to its meetings held from September to March, usually on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in the church hall.
The club is a social group which started over 40 years ago for the 25 to 50 age group, and has 'matured' with the members. The first meeting of the season is often a 'Cheese and Wine Evening ' at the home of the president. Other meetings may take the form of an illustrated talk on a topic of local or worldwide interest, followed by refreshments and chat; or perhaps musical entertainment with a buffet meal provided by the members. A summer outing takes place in May or June.
Those of us who came in previous years thoroughly enjoyed the informal chats we had with lots of humour and information. We sit so that we can all see and hear each other. There are tea and coffee and biscuits available. We only ask for a donation to cover the cost. We meet in the Church Lounge (so no steps), on the second Tuesday morning of each month between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.
Dundee Parish Church (St. Mary’s) has a fine singing tradition going back many years.
We sing a variety of music dating back to the time of Palestrina and Byrd right up to the present day with contemporary composers such as Bob Chilcott.
We meet on a Sunday morning at 9.45 to rehearse and the service finishes at 12. People are often nervous about joining because they worry about their sight-singing skills but you’d be amazed at how quickly this improves when you’re singing three anthems and four hymns every Sunday!
